Powerful Lesson From This Popular Singer

Regrettably, we have a huge problem with patience and perseverance as we live in a world where we require instant results.

If we’re hungry, we need fast food!

If we’re feeling blue we need instant satisfaction.

However let’s look at a story of perseverance.

I was reading through an article in our local newspaper and I was inspired by one of our local singer.

Derrick Hoh is a fast-rising singer from Singapore.

In 2005, Derrick tried out for Project SuperStar, a national talent singing competition in Singapore.

His unequaled singing abilities were noticed and he moved on to be a finalist and gained nation-wide recognition.

Derrick took a break from the music industry for 2 years to serve in national service.

In 2008, he began his come back efforts.

His debut album, released 3 years following being signed as an artist, was held up time & again.

He likewise spent 2 months in Korea going through a complete make over under the charge of renowned dance choreographer Feel.

His lessons began at noon daily and finished at 10.30pm.

But most of the time, he rehearsed until 5am.

However the hardest part wasn’t the stringent training.

Hoh has stated that once he was sick on the way back to his apartment and because he didn’t wish to barf on the subway, he held it in his mouth. He was very weak and sick for about 4 days.

It was only on the 3rd day that he felt well enough to see a physician.

In spite of being ill, alone and far from home, he didn’t whine.

Even though he didn’t come in 1st place in Project SuperStar competition, his burgeoning singing career seems to be exceeding those who were placed higher than him.

He has said that it doesn’t matter whether you’re the victor of any competition.

What’s crucial is how much effort you throw in.

He as well feels that the wait did him good, as he’s matured both in his mentality and in performing.

His first video single shows him pulling off the dance moves he learned.
Definitely one that ought to be given a chance, as it took 3 long years of preparation.

As well he has since become one of the voices behind the Singapore interpretation of Coca-Cola’s campaign single, “Open Happiness”.

Chosen for his unshakable perseverance, enthusiasm and zest for life, “Open Happiness” opens up a substantial heap of ‘firsts’ for him.

All the same, if you’re like all the other normal individuals whose lives will never amount to anything great, if you’re easily bored or rapidly disillusioned, then almost anything you try will turn to hard work.

And when anything becomes hard work, it’s the simplest thing in the world to lose interest and to move to something else that will provide you the instantaneous kick that you’re seeking or have come to expect out of life today.

And that’s why so few individuals really succeed.

To succeed you must be resolved and ruthless.

You must be ruthless with yourself, with working at and sustaining your focus and frame of mind.

You must be ruthless in terms of sticking with your objective.

This perseverance has to penetrate your life – particularly, in your ongoing efforts to formulate the clear and present mentality that produces the groundwork for effortless success.

However, what if you fail or feel that you’re failing?

Remember, failure is just a different chance to persevere.
